Cosmetics firm recruits laid–off American workers for sales, 07/20/2003,
By DAWN WOTAPKA / The Dallas Morning News
"Furloughed American Airlines flight attendants," the ad reads,
"BeautiControl salutes you!"
The half–page newspaper advertisement invites the laid–off workers to
join the local direct–selling cosmetic company's sales force.
"We thought certainly that addressing the American Airlines flight
attendants is a perfect audience," said Jo–Anne Jaeger, the Carrollton
company's senior vice president of marketing.
The $9,000 ad – funded by BeautiControl and run without American
Airlines' knowledge – appeared Wednesday in The Dallas Morning News and
generated fewer than 100 calls.
