J. Lo in Vuitton ad: YUCK!!!!!

Smithee <Smithee_mem...@newsguy.com>
Why they decided to stick this over exposed no class media whore in the latest
Vuitton ads is beyond me. She cheapens the brand...not that I was ever a fan of
the overrated, overpriced stuff to begin with.

well then, by all means don't buy one!

I saw this ad in InStyle magazine...wasn't sure it was JLo. Now that I read
these posts, I realize it is her.
I would say that the bags are on par with Tod's and other high priced
handbags. Some I like, some I do not.

i agree, and i think J.Lo looks stunning!

Me too. I don't happen to be a fan but I think she looks gorgeous in the LV
ads.

I personally don't like the photos but they don't affect the quality of the
bags and don't stop me from liking them either!
I prefer the blonde model (her name escapes me) in the red lipstick ads.

Vuitton went down–market a long LONG time ago. Not surprised they picked
J–Lo. But whether she cheapens the brand? They cheapened it back when they
decided to "trade" on stamping their hideous LV logo on every single bag. I
prefer companies that emphasize good design and quality over logo mania.

i've learned from reading this group that they don't actually do
that (on every single bag).

I have to say I hate Logos too.
njh...@aol.com (Njhcsh)
Then check out their new line Suhali, which I posted about earlier, the leather
is amazing the craftmenship superior. No logos on this except for a LV on the
closure clip that is hardly noticable.
I didn't know that was J.Lo I thought it was a model who looked like her.

It's not the design, it's that it's gauche to have them.

For me it's not the particular logo that matters, it's the quantity and
placement of them. A discretely placed logo on a handbag doesn't bother me at
all, but when the whole handbag is plastered with the logos it looks tacky. In
the clothing arena, Tommy Hilfiger just didn't seem to be able to get his logos
large enough to suit himself – he had to take up the whole sleeve or the whole
front/back of the garment to get his logo across to anyone and everyone within
a 50 yard radius of the wearer.

Right. On a Chanel bag I carry a lot, there is the word Chanel on the clasp
and on the Hermes bag it was on the underside of the strap. I think this
distinguishes high end items from others. I love DKNY, but her T–shirts
always have her name plastered all over them (the cheaper line talking about
here that has logos). I admit I buy them, but I'd rather it be something
that didn't distinguish her name. On her more expensive line, this isn't
the case.

Old Navy is another entry in the contest for most annoying display of
the company name on clothing.
Tommy has the Hilfiger Blimp (yes, there is one... unless they decided
to leave the blimps to Goodyear). One half red, the other white: you
knew it was a Hilfiger Blimp from a half–mile or so away.

I beg to differ: the Nike SWOOSH is not gauche and neither is the star
on the side of a Chuck.
Now, the three–pointed ornament on a Mercedes–Benz... THAT is gauche.
It says to everyone around "WARNING –– Overpriced German Dodge!"
<grin/duck>
Yeah, well, I no longer drive a MB, thank goodness. Maybe in another 40
years when I want a car that drives itself. I love to drive, not ride. I
like my 6 speed very much. I also like leaving all the MB in the dust.
