I like the Janika style too – would be a nice shoe for the fall. I like the
color it's shown in – a good neutral basic. Has anyone tried the closed back
Danskos? I had a pair of closed back Professionals a few years ago but
returned them because the back rubbed up and down on the back of my heel as I
walked. The paperwork said that's the way the shoe is supposed to fit/behave,
but I could see it rubbing a blister in my foot so returned them.

Stuff for my mom's birthday (it's 3 weeks away––this is very late for me
to be getting started). Today, I ordered:
– A bread sampler from Wolferman's––scones, tea bread, muffins, and
English muffins, to be delivered on her birthday. I've never ordered from
them and I hope their stuff is good.
– A small sterling apple pendant from Tiffany & Co. It's very
cute. She's a teacher and I think she'll like it.
