I have tried 'em all, and love the KA. Prep your undereye with
moisturizer, pat in the TINIEST amount (literally, one tap into the

The Illuminare was a bad color, and looked too obvious on. I couldn't
wear it as a foundation, eitherany formula. I think this stuff was
the biggest beauty hype I've ever fallen for via this newsgroup. I
just could not make it work.
The Becca creased like a bastard. Two friends and I (all w/different
skin types) had Becca makeovers by their main MA, and we all looked
hideous when she was done. Huge creases within minutes, for all of us,
and this was with the myriad layers of products that company deems
necessary. It was all we could do crawl to the Linda Cantello counter
a few feet away and wipe the mess off.
I too, have tried them all, and on different people in the course of my
work. I like the Kevyn Aucoin pretty well, but find it is very similar
to Wm. Tuttle foundation (after the Tuttle foundation is smushed up and
softened, that is), but the color selection of the KA is better,
especially in the lighter shades. I also find that it seems to highlight
flaking, so the skin *must* be moisturized ahead of time. if you have
perfectly smooth skin but need color coverage, then this is the perfect
foundation for you. I, however, have little flaky dry areas and don't
need the coverage, so I prefer using just sunscreen and tiny amounts of
loose mineral foundation where needed/desired.
I also like Illuminare, but it caused horrible allergic reactions on
about 1% of the people on whom I've used it. also, the 5color selection
does leave a lot to be desired, especially at the darker end of the
scale. I couldn't use it on anyone darker than, say, medium Hispanic. it
didn't work at all on Asian skintones. too much red for that. the
Portofino Porcelain color, however, is an almost exact match for my skin
color and I know how to work with this foundation (it must be spread
THINLY in order to look natural, as it's very pigmented, and it takes
some practice), so I like it for myself, but use it less and less on
others except those on whom I already know it works.
however...YMMV, and probably will. most people won't like the Joe
Blasco, Tuttle and RCMA foundations that I use about 90% of the time in
my work because of their versatility and portability (I need creams to
put in a palette so I can carry 60+ colors at a time). and I think I'm
one of the few people in here who loves Facefinity as well. and, again,
I'm probably in the minority in my love of Revlon skinlights Diffusing
Tint (on me, too glittery for photography), because it's almost invisible.
