OT: J.Lo and Afflect Interview

njh...@aol.com (Cheryl H.)
Just wondering if anyone watched. I fell asleep but read the
transcript and watched bits and pieces. My opinion, this is a big act
for promoting their movies. I didn't see any sparks or chemistry
flying when they are themselves.
The interview is boring too, like they are not leading anyone on to
believe they are an item, even though they are engaged.
"minicooper" <minicooper...@oz.charter.net>
i fell asleep too, 15 minutes into the interview. they're fun to watch,
both being so attractive, but who knows what goes on behind the cameras. it
may be a stunt, or one of those marriages that only lasts a short time,
shocking(?) everyone when they split, like angelina jolie and
whatz–hiz–name.

Oh I agree. I also think that this is the reason Ashton and Demi are together.
Funny that they have become so in love with each other when Demi had CA coming
out and Ashton's movie was being released on video. I think that they are just
doing this for as a PR stunt. on the same note, I think that after this Gigli
movie flops, we'll hear the announcement of JLo and Ben's breakup. But.. who
knows, maybe I'm wrong. I'm just not convinced that JLo and Ben are in love
and destined to be together.

Well, I tend to think it is not stunt because it would be an awfully big
stunt having her go through a divorce and all.
It is so newsworthy because they are such an odd couple. He always said
Gwyneth was not the type of woman he could get serious about and Jennifer is
definitely different from Gwyneth.
The video where he touches her bottom and kisses it shows the chemistry.
They showed that last night.
I think Ben is cute, but he doesn't have a whole lot of sex appeal. That's
probably why the chemistry does not come through.

Being Hispanic and from The Bronx does not make you "a ghetto girl".
Her parents were professionals and middle–class, as were Affleck's.

i'm not defending anyone's comments, but i think what someone was
trying to say is that JLo has put out at least one CD that could
possibly be called "hip hop" and has been seen in videos with major
hip hop stars. if one had never seen "Driven" (VH1) or "Behind the
Music," one might possibly construe that JLo is a ghetto girl. and
also, i believe that it's possible that people who do not live in NYC
might believe that Bronx is the "ghetto." so putting two and two
together (hip hop music and the Bronx), one might assume something
that may or may not be true.

Quite. She sings about being Jenny from the block, ie. being a street kid,
and her movie role choices all seem to be about working class girls making
it against the odds. He acts in a movie about students at Harvard, and a
movie where he's an all American hero.
I don't know much about either of them, what I said was that those were the
images I had of them. One telling thing is that they both felt they had to
emphasize in the interview their similar backgrounds.
Another telling thing is their exes – hers was Puff Daddy, his was Gwyneth
Paltrow.

Yeah, Kobe should have known better. It's definitely a hard lesson. Anyone
with that much money should know better than to have a one night stand.
There are all kinds of money hungry people in the world. I was thinking
this would not be a factor because it's a criminal case until I remembered
the Michael Jackson deal where they paid the kid off not to cooperate with
the DA. This may be what she is hoping for. Simple plan. Go to the guys

but the neighbors complain about the noise, voila, pay me off if you're
smart. I hope he never ever cheats on Vanessa again.

Paltrow.
ya know, i was trying to put it nicely. i gave you an out. you could

Just joining the dots, that's all...

I was indeed. It's difficult to discuss in a newsgroup issues that
could be misinterpreted without getting into long convoluted threads
like this and losing sight of the original context.
I was indeed trying to understand where the skepticism about this
relationship stemmed from. It sounds like I was wrong in my
interpretation of their perceived social backgrounds being the cause
of that. Just for the record, I have no opinion either way. I am not
impressed by Ben Affleck though I do find Jennifer Lopez quite sweet
(she was endearing and genuine in that TV movie about a Latina
songstress who gets murdered by a fan).
Perhaps it would be interesting to hear from the naysayers themselves
why they think Ben and J. Lo aren't going to last. Maybe it's the fact
that their previous relationships, particularly hers, have been so
unstable?

I have to say it was such a boring interview, I had to change the channel
after a bit. However maybe they will make a halfway normal couple??? Both
appeared pretty humdrum and average to me.
However I must add, Ben looks like he was spotting a toupee and Jlo looked
as if she had had her nose narrowed. Am I the only one to notice this???
Parkmadison
Hmm, I was thinking her nose looked a little wider. Who knows.

yeah, and what i don't get is why you're projecting what other's

care what other's might be? i mean, as long as it's not directly

Just wondering if anyone watched. I fell asleep but read the
transcript and watched bits and pieces. My opinion, this is a
big
act
for promoting their movies. I didn't see any sparks or
chemistry
flying when they are themselves.
The interview is boring too, like they are not leading anyone
on
to
believe they are an item, even though they are engaged.
I think the reason so many people are skeptical about their
relationship is that they come from two such different social
classes.
Or at least that's what I seem to know of them – she's ghetto
girl
and he's preppy boy. It's going to take a lot to make that
work.
Being Hispanic and from The Bronx does not make you "a ghetto
girl".
Her parents were professionals and middle–class, as were
Affleck's.
I hate to think that ethnic differences are being perceived as
social
class differences.
Certainly ethnic differences are perceived as social class
differences.
Look around you, especially here in Boston. We're talking
perception,
not
fact.
That's racist, sorry, but it is, and social class matching? I thought
we
were
over that.

I never liked her before seeing her on SNL. I saw what a really cute
personality she has and her love of Dolce & Gabbana clothes caught my eye
too. I wish I could find that hat from a past collection that she was
wearing in one photograph. It is a cream colored Dolce & Gabbana with no
brim. She has a cream colored skirt on in the picture and maybe a black
sweater.
