What have you turned into a fashion accessory?

emiri...@aol.com (EMiriamD)
Every summer my poor feet have to readjust to wearing sandals/slides, which
means they get blistered and abraded and I need to cover up various spots with
Band Aids until the skin gets a little tougher. I've decided that rather than
wear boring ol' beige Band Aids, I'm livening things up by using Active
Brights, the colored ones from Nexcare, which come in yellow, turquoise,
purple and orange (all in one box!). My feet are cheerfully protected now!
What have you turned into a fashion accessory that wasn't necessarily meant for
that purpose?

*My new reading glasses (I'm so proud of them!;=) I also want to get
a cool chain for them so I can hang them around my neck.
*I also use my sunglasses as an accessory, but not in the usual way;
I've been wearing them as a headband–like "hair accessory" since
I was in college.
*I have some lovely makeup bags I've used as clutch bags before.
*I also *have* to have some kind of hair elastic nearby so I can put
my hair back and/or up if I need to, and the easiest place
to keep these handy is on my right wrist (watch is on the left.
I use colorful and uniquely–textured hair ties, and on 2 different
occasions I was asked if they were some kind of friendship bracelet.
*I have used decorative trouser sox or colorful, novelty sox to tie my
my hair back.
*A long time ago, I used bandanas as belts, just drawing them through
the belt–loops of my jeans and then knotting them in front.

LOL! My phone is more like me keys or glasses –– I lose it as often
as I lose those other two! :=D

Key Fob– sound so stupid, but I have a few Coach ones that I alternate now.
My neighbors always laugh that I'm now matching my key fob to my
purse/wristlet/whatever. :–)
My favorite though, still is the Pool butterfly one I bought in April.

I definitely need a new fashion accessory phone. The student I tutor got a
new phone yesterday and it has a
different ring for each of the numbers she has listed. It has lots of
games, a different keypad and other
features. I need to check it out because she said it was $50 but there was a
$50 rebate. Mine, which is
not too old, seems like a dinosaur compared to hers.

I'm beginning to consider glasses frames as a fashion accessory as
well as I'm having to wear them all the time.
Has anyone here thought about Corneal Refractive Therapy or CRT? I
was wondering if it's worth the trouble or do we really want to give
up our glasses frames? I had read that this therapy cost from $800 to
$3500 depending on your area. If you are in the $800 area then that's
just about 3 or 4 years worth of glasses. What do y'all think?

If you live in my area (D/FW) and decide to go to Dr. Booth to have
it done? Well, my daughter is friends with the daughter of the eye
surgeon who gets most of Dr. Booth's "oops." But then, this same
Doc will do the same surgery for you, charge a lot more for it and
you'll have a much better chance of coming away unharmed. kayper

Me too.. I can't fathom why women buy clutches when you can get the same
thing for 1/3 the price. I've seen tons of designer makeup bags that were
nearly identical to the little bags, just without the strap.. and they were
waaaay more affordable.. plus tiny and adorable :)

When my mom was throwing away all of her hideous 80's scarves, I snagged all
of them for cool–looking belts.
I have a tiffany heart tag key ring which is sort of fashionable. I even
got copies of all my keys made in silver so they would match!! How fashion
victim is that? (it does look awfully nice though..)
This is not exactly the same as the others, but when I get sick of certain
necklaces.. there are cases in which it looks fresh and neat to double it up
and wear it as a bracelet or anklet.

Oh, here's a good one: at Christmas, before Christmas–themed
apparel and accessories were common, I used to use the tiniest
tree–ornaments and use the hooks to wear them as earrings.
Now you don't have to do that; there are "Christmase" shops
open year–round, now. kayper
