Any Style Gurus Out There ?

matt_lazenby2...@yahoo.co.uk (matt)
I'm planning to totally overhaul my image – Queer Eye For The Straight
Guy style. I don't have much idea where to start though ! Any ideas,
web sites that anyone can recommend ? Assuming I have all of Europe to
choose from then where is the best place to shop ? I prefer London but
was wondering about other cities too. I'm looking for a classic look
rather than this seasons if that's any help. Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Matt

Believe it or not, you can pretty much get everything in the UK. Manchester,
for example, is a great place to shop (I'm biased though, I live there)...it
has a Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Armani, DKNY, Boss, 'The Triangle' complex
has loads of great stuff....I could go on forever. But obviously, London has
all this and more. But my main point is that you don't really need to leave
the UK to successfully change your image.
As far as advice on what to buy, well you don't mention your age or any
other good pointers as where to start, as this does matter. I'd suggest
asking a stylish gay bloke for advice, to be honest with you. And I can't
help you there! :–)
But seriously, I'd prefer the OK's from a stylish gay man over those of a
woman or a straight bloke, any day of the week. I have a few gay mates who
are totally honest, blunt and very helpful in this department. 'Queer eye
for a straight guy' style, all the way! Know any stylish gay blokes, do you?
Good luck though, I hope you feel better with your future new look.

Actually I recently did this myself, but unfortunately I didn't have any gay
friends with any sort of fashion sense, so I had to go it alone. While I
can't say anything for specifics, the best way I found was to simply start
picking up magazines (not neccesarily just fashion ones) and browsing
through the pictures to see what looks good, but if you're looking for a
"classic" look there are still some magazines that'll help you out (GQ is
amazing for this). Always remember to get clothes that fit for the image
you're looking for, never too small or too big. I don't know much about
locations, being on the wrong continent, so I can't help you there either.
Good luck

I know you have a Gap there (stay away) but do you have a Banana Republic,
it's a good starting point for a classy look. Armani Exchange has some
great stuff but dig hard cause some of it is Euro Trash (no offense), same
goes for Diesel and Energie... I'm in the States so your mileage my
vary.....
anyways... www.bananarepublic.com
