Buttonless collar OK without tie?

ef...@aol.com (Ed)
I'm going out next week on a speed date – you know, where you meet 12
women for 6 minutes each. Age group 35–45. Anyway, the organizer
says most people show up directly from work. Would it be OK to wear a
dress shirt with a medium spread collar (not a button down collar),
and no tie? I love the shirt, but something tells me I may look
sloppy. I don't want to wear a tie. Wear the shirt, or find a button
down collar?

I think its all up to how you feel about how it looks.
For my I would wear a Tie with that shirt or switch to a button down.

It's a date, so try and look nice. I'd go with a collared shirt and
tie. Just don't go in wearing a suit, I think that would be too much.

I am beyond dating age, but I think the look of a spread collar and no tie
is beautiful. Why not wear it under a sweater or sleeveless sweater? Good
luck!
Best,
Dr. Robert
